I’ll give you what I learned from all this,” he said. “Accept what people offer. Drink their milkshakes. Take their love.” I don’t know many gay 50yo’s that break up mostly happy LTR’s in the hopes of finding better, especially in a small town and time where gay is still considered deviant. I sat on the bed, massaging his temples, pretending that just the right rubbing might draw out the disease. In the mirror I watched us both--Mr. Pucci, frail and wasted, a talking dead man. And myself with the surgical mask over my mouth, to protect him from me. This episode had about 2.17 million viewers in the USA, which was 0.07 million less than the previous episode.

Mr. Lamb gives his vociferous heroine truly heroic proportions, in both the physical and the psychical sense … John Updike once observed the J.D. Salinger loves some of his characters 'more than God loves them,' which might be said about Wally Lamb … Those characters are equally endearing to the reader, as Dolores Price is, even in her most self-deprecatory moments: this reader kept rooting for her to overcome all adversity and find peace and happiness." After reading (listening to) this story (forcibly Suggested by a friend) I have come to realize that I am indeed Dolores Price - born a few years later - but also Molested and traumatized on several levels. I am currently in my FAT Phase - and Im motivated - and I found as I was Cheering for Delores to allow herself happiness - I realized I TOO was denying myself happiness. I found the character development in She's Come Undone to be incredibly well-crafted and multi-dimensional. Claire from Miller's, MdThe first time I heard this song was in an antique store with my dad in Westminster, MD. From that day on this has been my fav song by The Guess Who. She experiences the worst that life can throw at her, dealing with obesity, insanity, close friends dying from AIDS, adultry, but fills her with such life and generosity of spirit that at no point does it come across as heavy handed or mawkish. Lamb never plays for the easy tears or attempts to pull on your heart strings so as a reader you never feel manipulated. Many reviewers panned this book, exclaiming that a male author could not possibly capture the true perspective and essence of an adolescent girl coming of age, maturing into a middle aged women, enduring parental divorce and infidelity, rape, harassment and bullying, her own painful marriage and divorce, death of very close loved ones and in the end finding true happiness in life in her own way. That may be true. I cannot say. But for me the book was a huge winner because my heart completely overflowed with intense empathy for Delores Price. Empathy is gender neutral. If an author can make me feel such intense empathy and compassion for a character, that author did an outstanding job regardless of their gender! This is a 5-STAR effort in my view. A People Magazine Top-Ten Book of The Year. A New York Times Notable Book of The Year. A Los Angeles Times Book Award Finalist — Best First Novel of The Year." Dante seemed merely a pawn, convenient to the author for whatever drama he wanted to introduce to Dolores, but there was no consistency in him throughout the book. I think readers will appreciate how realistic Dolores' character arc is in She's Come Undone; she makes mistakes but ultimately learns from them and finds a way to keep going forward despite her struggles. This is about the struggle of a young girl, in a dysfunctional family, victim of rape, who became obese. It’s a story of a woman overcoming her trauma and where it got her.

The writing style in She's Come Undone is truly remarkable; it manages to capture the raw emotion of the story without ever feeling overblown or melodramatic.Dante Davis: Kippy's long-distance boyfriend, Dolores' college infatuation, and eventual first husband. When I read this book, I felt like the author took his (surprisingly the author is a man for such a female story) hand, clawed through my ribcage and tore my heart out. This is one of the few books that makes me cry. I may feel sorrow when I read an angsty book, but normally I don't cry. Well this one turned on the waterworks for me. Rebekah: "I was wondering if you were gonna say hello or keep ignoring me." Matt: "I was working. I see you compelled the bartenders again." Rebekah: "I'm celebrating. My brothers and I have parted company. Elijah and Nik ran off to New Orleans to chase God knows what, and I am finally free." Matt: "Yeah, I heard about that." Rebekah: "Did you hear I lost the cure, too? I was this close to the life that I always wanted and then poof, gone in a heartbeat." Matt: "I'm sorry. I know how much you wanted it." Rebekah: "Please. I know you were planning to steal it for Elena. I never had a chance did I?" Matt: "I meant what I said, but if you want to feel sorry for yourself, go ahead."

As endearingly familiar as Chiquita Banana jingles, Hula-Hoops and I Love Lucy, as mysterious and haunting as the cries of whales, She's Come Undone makes us laugh and wince with recognition and reminds us that despite the pain we endure and cause, we must find the courage to love again. Numerous jazz and other musicians have recorded "Undun". These include Phish, Hennie Bekker, [10] Steve Cole, [11] The Phil Dwyer Septet, [12] Kurt Elling, [13] Ranee Lee, [14] Sophie Milman, [15] Hugo Montenegro, [16] and Alexander Zonjic. [17]

I loved the way Dolores' journey of transformation was depicted in She's Come Undone; it was both inspiring and heartbreaking. While in college, Deloris experiences a sexual relationship with another female, causing her to question her sexuality. She also steals her roommates letters from her boyfriend and longs for the boyfriend to be her boyfriend. A guy her roommate is sleeping with ends up assaulting Deloris at a part. Afterwards, Deloris freaks out and leaves town. She attempts suicide by drowning in a place where whales have mysteriously began beaching themselves, but her mother's friend, whom she had called and spoken oddly to before she went into the ocean, sent help. For the next seven years her mother's friend pays for Deloris to live at a mental health facility. Jorge from Bronx, NyUp to this day i like the jazzy sound to this song,,and knowing the meaning,to it makes you wonder,How come i didn't guess that myself, lol She's Come Undone is an honest exploration of how trauma can shape our lives, but also how we can eventually come to terms with our pasts and move on with strength. At the time, we had completed and mastered The Wedding Album and had started the cover album Thank You. One day, we took the drum loop and bass groove from a demo of mine called “Face to Face” and added the ultra cool guitar riff that Warren had come up with for a new ‘cover’ version of “First Impression”.
